James B. (Ben) Tidwell is a Senior Technical Advisor for WASH Behavior Change Research at World Vision and has ten years of experience in designing, evaluating, and managing water, sanitation, and hygiene behavior change programs. He has extensive experience in implementing both relief and development programs in the Middle East and Africa, and has been based in those regions for more than 5 years.

He holds a PhD in Behavioral Science from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where his dissertation focused on peri-urban sanitation improvement, and was a Rotary Global Grant Scholar during his time there. He has a Masters of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and recently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he investigated taking behavior change to scale through business models and government systems, with several soap and sanitation brands as a focus of his work. He is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland.
